About Rajasthan
Rajasthan, from the Aravalli hills to the Thar Desert. Jaipur opens most of the itineraries — Amber Fort, Jaigarh and Nahargarh above the city, the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal within it — with Ajmer Sharif and the Brahma Temple at Pushkar a short drive away. Southern Rajasthan centres on Udaipur, the City of Lakes, with boat rides on Lake Pichola, the City Palace and Crystal Gallery, and the state's only hill station at Mount Abu for the 11th-century Dilwara Jain temples and Nakki Lake. West lies Jodhpur, the Sun City, below Mehrangarh Fort, and beyond it Jaisalmer — the only living fort in India — with the Sam sand dunes and a desert camp on the longest tour. Two itineraries approach from Delhi, taking in the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri on the way in.
