Jaipur, Ajmer & Pushkar

Overview

A four-day circuit beginning and ending at Jaipur. Two days cover the Pink City: Johari Bazaar and the Hawa Mahal, the City Palace museums and Jantar Mantar, the Govind Dev Ji Temple, then Amber Fort and Palace, Jaigarh Fort, the Gaitore cenotaphs, Jal Mahal, Albert Hall Museum and the Birla Temple. The tour then drives out to Ajmer for the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Ana Sagar lake and the Jain temple and museum, and on to Pushkar for the Brahma Temple — one of very few temples anywhere dedicated to the Hindu creator god — staying by Pushkar Lake for the evening aarti.

Day-by-day Itinerary

  1. 1

Jaipur Arrival – The Pink City

On arrival at Jaipur railway station or airport, you will be welcomed by your private driver and taken straight to the hotel. Check in, then head out to see the old Pink City. Drive through Johari Bazaar to the Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds. Visit the museums inside the City Palace and the ancient observatory, Jantar Mantar, then pay a visit to the Govind Dev Ji Temple, which houses the patron deity of Jaipur. Evening free for shopping or your own activities. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  2. 2

    Jaipur Local Sightseeing

After breakfast, set out on a full day's local sightseeing around the Pink City. Visit Amber Fort and Palace and Jaigarh Fort, see the Gaitore cenotaphs from the front, and take a photo stop at Jal Mahal, before the Albert Hall Museum and the Birla Temple. Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay at Jaipur.

  3. 3

    Jaipur – Ajmer & Pushkar (130 km · 2½ hrs)

After an early breakfast, drive to Ajmer and visit the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Ana Sagar lake, and the Jain temple and museum. Later drive on to Pushkar and, after quick check-in formalities, set out to see the town. First visit the enchanting Brahma Temple, dedicated to Lord Brahma, the creator god of the Hindus; of the few temples to him existing anywhere in the world, this one is believed to be the most significant. Then enjoy the view over Pushkar Lake, surrounded by its ghats, staying until the evening aarti. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

  4. 4

    Pushkar – Jaipur Drop (130 km · 2½ hrs)
