Puri, Konark & Bhubaneswar Temples

Overview

Four days covering the whole golden triangle. Two nights in Puri allow for the Jagannath Temple, the beach and a full day at Chilika Lake. The tour then runs up the coast to Konark and on to Bhubaneswar, stopping at Dhauli and the Lingaraj Temple, and finishes with the old-town temples and the Jain caves before the drop.

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. 1

   Bhubaneswar Arrival – Puri (60 km · 1½ hrs)

   Pick-up from Bhubaneswar airport and drive to Puri, then after checking in, darshan at Sri Jagannath Temple (non-Hindus are not allowed inside) and the Gundicha Temple. Evening on Puri beach; overnight in Puri.

2. 2

   Puri – Chilika Lake (Satapada) – Puri (50 km each way)

   After breakfast, a full day at Satapada on Chilika Lake, home to the Irrawaddy dolphins (boat ride payable directly). Return to Puri for the evening on the beach and at the local market; overnight in Puri.

3. 3

   Puri – Konark – Bhubaneswar (35 km + 65 km)

   Drive the marine drive to Konark via Chandrabhaga Beach and Ramchandi Temple to see the 13th-century Sun Temple, the "Black Pagoda". Continue to Bhubaneswar, visiting the Dhauli Peace Pagoda, the 108 Shivling temple and Lingaraj Temple on the way; overnight in Bhubaneswar.

4. 4

   Bhubaneswar Sightseeing & Departure

   After breakfast, visit the Rajarani, Mukteshwar and Parasurameswara temples and the Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves, cut by Jain monks over 2,000 years ago. Then transfer to Bhubaneswar airport or railway station for your onward journey.
