Manali, Solang Valley & Naggar Castle

Overview

A five-day Manali circuit from Delhi, with overnight travel at each end. Manali itself covers the Hadimba Devi and Manu temples, the Tibetan monastery and Vashisht village, with a full excursion to the Solang Valley for its snow views and optional paragliding, zorbing, ropeway and skiing. A second day climbs to Naggar Castle for its art gallery and the Jagatipatt temple. The return runs down the Kullu valley to the Pashmina shawl factories and on to Manikaran, where the gurudwara is built around a hot spring, before the long drive back to Delhi. Note that the first night is spent travelling by cab rather than in a hotel, and that Rohtang Pass, the Atal Tunnel and Sissu are all at extra cost.

Day-by-day Itinerary

  1. 1

    Delhi – Manali (540 km · 13 hrs)

Meet our representative at Delhi and drive to Manali, travelling overnight in the cab.

  2. 2

    Manali Arrival – Local Sightseeing

On arrival at Manali, our representative will help transfer you to the pre-booked hotel. Check in, freshen up and enjoy some leisure time in the comfort of your room. Later, set out on a city tour visiting some of the most prominent spots — the Hadimba Devi Temple, also called the Dhungri Temple, the Manu Temple, the Tibetan Monastery and Vashisht village. Return by afternoon and spend the rest of the day at your own will. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Manali.

  3. 3

Manali – Solang Valley – Manali (14 km)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then set out on an excursion to Solang Valley, Him Valley and Nehru Kund. Solang Valley is outstandingly beautiful and an ideal spot to take in the snow-covered Himalayas, the serene surroundings and the pristine lake, with white snow through much of the year. Adventure activities are available here at your own cost — paragliding, zorbing, the ropeway and skiing. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Please note: the National Green Tribunal permits only a limited number of vehicles to Rohtang Pass each day, so Rohtang is subject to a permit issued on the spot at additional cost, on either a sharing or an individual basis as you prefer. Rohtang is closed every Tuesday, and the Atal Tunnel and Sissu are also at extra cost.

  4. 4

Manali – Naggar Castle – Manali

After breakfast, drive out to Naggar Castle, known for its art gallery, the castle itself and the Jagatipatt temple. Overnight stay at the hotel in Manali.

  5. 5

    Manali – Kullu – Manikaran – Delhi (580 km · 14–15 hrs)

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Drive down to Kullu and visit the world-famous Pashmina shawl factory, or explore the local market. Continue to Manikaran via Kasol, covering the Vaishno Devi Temple en route. Manikaran is an important pilgrimage site, with the Ram Temple and an impressive gurudwara built around a hot spring so hot it can boil rice and dal within five minutes, which impresses every visitor. Later drive on to Delhi, with a drop at your doorstep.
