Manali, Manikaran, Shimla & Kufri

Overview

Seven days linking Manali and Shimla in a single run from Delhi. The first half is Manali: the Hadimba Devi and Manu temples, the Tibetan monastery and Vashisht village, a full excursion to the Solang Valley, and a day down the Kullu valley to the Pashmina shawl factories and the hot-spring gurudwara at Manikaran. The road then crosses to Shimla for the Sankat Mochan and Jakhu temples, Christ Church, the State Museum and a stroll on the Ridge, with an afternoon excursion to Kufri and Fagu for the apple orchards. Note that Rohtang Pass, the Atal Tunnel and Sissu are all at extra cost.

Day-by-day Itinerary

  1. 1

    Delhi – Manali (540 km · 13 hrs)

Arrive at Delhi railway station or airport, meet our representative and drive to Manali, travelling overnight.

  2. 2

    Manali – Local Sightseeing

On arrival at Manali, our representative will help transfer you to the pre-booked hotel. Check in, freshen up and enjoy some leisure time in the comfort of your room. Later, set out on a city tour visiting some of the most prominent spots — the Hadimba Devi Temple, also called the Dhungri Temple, the Manu Temple, the Tibetan Monastery and Vashisht village. Return by afternoon and spend the rest of the day at your own will. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Manali.

  3. 3

    Manali – Solang Valley

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then set out on an excursion to Solang Valley, Him Valley and Nehru Kund. Solang Valley is outstandingly beautiful and an ideal spot to take in the snow-covered Himalayas, the serene surroundings and the pristine lake, with white snow through much of the year. Adventure activities are available here at your own cost — paragliding, zorbing, the ropeway and skiing. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Please note: the National Green Tribunal permits only a limited number of vehicles to Rohtang Pass each day, so Rohtang is subject to a permit issued on the spot at additional cost, on either a sharing or an individual basis as you prefer. Rohtang is closed every Tuesday, and the Atal Tunnel and Sissu are also at extra cost.

  4. 4

    Manali – Kullu – Kasol – Manikaran

Set out after breakfast. Drive down to Kullu and visit the world-famous Pashmina shawl factory, or explore the local market. Continue to Manikaran via Kasol, covering the Vaishno Devi Temple en route. Manikaran is an important pilgrimage site, with the Ram Temple and an impressive gurudwara built around a hot spring so hot it can boil rice and dal within five minutes, which impresses every visitor. Later drive back to Manali and overnight stay at the hotel.

  5. 5

    Manali – Shimla (235 km · 6–7 hrs)

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Shimla. On arrival, check in at the hotel and take some rest, then head out to the Sankat Mochan and Jakhu temples, both dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Later visit Christ Church and the State Museum, and take a stroll along the Ridge. As dusk sets in, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

  6. 6

    Shimla – Kufri

After breakfast, continue the Shimla sightseeing tour, covering the Kali Bari Temple and stopping a while at the beautiful stained-glass windows of Christ Church. In the afternoon, take the excursion to Kufri, a thirty-minute drive from Shimla, and spend the evening among its scenery. Also visit Fagu, with optional horse riding in the apple orchards. The rest of the day is free to explore. Dinner and overnight stay at Shimla.

  7. 7

    Shimla – Delhi (400 km · 9 hrs)

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Delhi, with a drop at Delhi Airport.
